wail of doom is from soul reaping,tbh its a great skill i often change ss to exactly because of the same problem as u described,played around with [Corrupt Enchantment],[Pain of Disenchantment],[Soul Bind],[Icy Veins] insted of ss,u need to try out nd see what works best for u or the area u are in,this is what i use normally (i change builds alot to)
if u are using sabway u could use [Wail of Doom] on the n/rt bar,this is what i use sometimes

N/Rt Support
[build prof=N/Rt sou=12+1+1 restoration=12][Wail of Doom][Foul Feast][Weapon Of Warding][mend Body And Soul][Signet Of Lost Souls][Protective Was Kaolai][Life][Flesh Of My Flesh][/build]
sometimes i lower soul reaping atributes and add 8 in blood for [Blood Is Power],u can change [Foul Feast]for[Spirit Light] and [Flesh Of My Flesh] for [Death Pact Signet],so there goes your [Wail Of Doom]char so u dont need to add it on the curses necro bar cause tbh [Weapon of Remedy]is overrated,might aswell use [Xinrae's Weapon],and [Foul Feast] does a better job of condition removal.For the curses necro this is what i use more or less,feel free to toy around with the build

N/Rt Curses
[build prof=N/Rt curses=12+1+1 sou=12+1][Soul Bind][Barbs][Enfeebling Blood][Shadow Of Fear][Signet Of Lost Souls][Mark Of Pain][Rip Enchantment][Flesh Of My Flesh][/build]
For optionals in this build i would take(u can take whatever u want):
[Splinter Weapon](nuff said one of the best aoe´s in the game not to mention it triggers mark of pain),
[Ancestor's Rage],remeber to change atributes for this , i usually go 12+1+1 curses,8+1 soul reaping,10 chanelling

If u wil not use an mm or physicals i sugest using other spells insted of Barbs or Mark of pain,
[Defile Defenses]-nice dmg againts blocking targets,
[Defile Flesh]-this in combination with Wail of doom and Soul bind migh be overkill tho,
[Insidious Parasite]-some life stealling while punishing atackers,
[Plague Sending](to be used with foul feast in the same bar),
[Reckless Haste]-kinda expensive,better in a bar that contains [Spiteful Spirit],
[Rigor Mortis]-to counter block,
[Weaken Armor]-cracked armor=more dmg from your team

sorry to be blunt,but if you need a single elite to neuter an enemy monk or high dmg output melee useless you should really rethink the team build
